Here are some pieces of student work from this summer.  First, is a video of my students' performance from our dance/theater class and second, is a short film made by the students in the film class.

Dance/Theater Student Performance
"This Time for Palestine"

Below is the video of my students' final performance from our dance/theater class during the closing summer ceremony for the LEAP summer program.

My fabulous co-teacher Holly and I with our theater students.

My co-teacher Holly and I wanted the performance to be a product of our students. We had the students write short "I am" statements and "My dream is..." statements.  As a class, we put them together to create the speaking section.

The students also loved to dance and sing so we included all of that in the performance to create a mix of theater, dance and music.

I hope you enjoy! Watching this brings a smile to my face, I hope it'll bring one to yours too!

Student Film
"Acre"

The students in the Film class this summer created and shot a short film called Acre.  In Acre the main character is Henzallah, a cartoon character created by Naji al-Ali.

Henzallah is symbolic to Palestinians for their right to return.  In the film, Henzallah comes to Shatila by the sea and is shocked by what he sees in the camps.  As you watch, you will also see footage from inside the camp which show the conditions in which the refugees in Shatila live in.
